I intended to wake up at three to watch the Euro final but I was too knackered that I didn't even bother to raise as much as my head to switch off the phone alarm. I was out at 8 a.m. and reached home at 9 p.m. I fell asleep right after Spidey 3 on HBO concluded.
But rejoice!Spain trumped Germany and that fact alone was enough to make me happy. Sorry Waa, it's not Germany time, again! I think the team is simply jinxed... I have no idea how Torres scored the goal (it might be beautiful for football buffs; I have yet to achieve the ability to appreciate the beauty of the game) and no inkling whatsoever of how Ballack's attempt to score a goal for his homeland met a futile end. But I know that Fabregas, the Spaniard Golden Boy, is a year older than me. Just thinking about the millions he has already made at such a young age make my head spin...
I have no keen interest in football but something as big as this will not escape my attention...

Re-uniting!
Mood: It's a clout!
Listening to: 1973 - James Blunt
Reading: Crime and Punishment - Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Invariably,a crowded, stifling mall has always been an option for a school reunion. I guess it all boils down to a few basic facts associated with the aforementioned venue. There's an array of restaurants one can choose to dine at, there's always the indispensable component of today's mall which is the cinema, and there are shops to do some window shopping, if nothing serious is involved. I chanced upon this invitation and I was excited.
Now,I'm dreading it.
It's been almost two years boys! And so much has changed in that span of time. Even a few things have come undone.
I must brace myself for today's meeting. Hopefully, I'll come presentable and ready for future conversations. Hopefully, all banters will roll off our tongues naturally...

The tenth post!
Another tag. I'm loving this.
The Rules :
1.Each blogger must post these rules first.
2.Each blogger starts with seven random facts/habits about themselves.
3.Bloggers that are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things and post these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose seven people to be tagged and list their names.
7 facts about me:
1. I dread driving classes. I always have a feeling that I'm not gonna pull through, that I'm such a big loser, that my eye-hand-foot coordination left too much to be desired...
2. I always have my posts typed on Word first before transferring the drafts to the posting board (huh?). I do this to make sure that whatever I’ve written will not be lost should the connection break down, which happened all the time back in college. Otherwise, I’m just being tentative.
3. I’m drawn to brand not style.
4. My idea of learning is rather skewed. Orientated to the academic structure that requires regurgitation of information during the exam since I was seven, almost all knowledge I’ve gained so far is committed to memory rather than my having understood them. I might find it hard to explain splitting of orbitals of a transition element in the presence of ligands or how does a biosensor work. The end of A-levels also means the end of knowledge empowerment. Thank you the education system…
5. I can’t dance. Blame it on my sloppy eye-feet-hand coordination.
6. There are no particular sports that I’m good at. The last time I played football was when I was in Form 5. I can never get things right when there are too many people in the team. In other words, I don’t like a game that involves too many people. I picked up squash in the last semester. I liked it. Well, at least for the first few games. Soon, the idea of hitting the ball and see it bouncing off the wall became too redundant. Oh, my friends can attest to the fact that I was not so good in that game too.
7. When I go to a place and live there for a time, I’ll fall in love with it. Not long after, I’ll become dependent to it. That’s what KYUEM is to me now.
7 things that scare me:
1. Not making the grades hence not able to receive an unconditional offer from dream university.
2. Maggots. They are just plain disgusting.
3. Losing a family member when I’m away. Or knowing that my parents are driving in an area where cars are like primed missiles and the drivers’ stupidity is murderous. A call from the police station is at the last place in my list of phone calls that I anticipate…
4. Having the JPJ guy fail my driving test. Or a condescending driving instructor.
5. Salesmen on the prowl. They can suddenly appear from the thin air knocking madly on your door. Worse if they don’t want to go away after a relentless attempt to shoo him. One particular incident when I was small still haunts me up to today. The guy threatened to break in when we turned down his offer. Desperate people go to desperate measures…
6. The afterlife. Am I really ready for that?
7. Economic downturn. As a government sponsored student, the outlook can be grimy should economic recession hit the country again…
7 songs at the moment:
Given the somber mood I’m drowning in now, the selection of songs can be tad too depressing.
1. Bye Bye – Mariah Carey
2. I’ll Stand By You – Carrie Underwood
3. Melawan Kesepian – Datuk? Datin Seri? Siti Nurhaliza
4. Bleedin’ Love Live! At AI7 – Leona Lewis
5. Jump – Madonna
6. I Need To Wake Up – Melissa Etheridge
7. If You Want Me – OST from Rush
7 things i always say:
1. Matilaaa or Dielah camni (ever the pessimistic me!)
2. D-oh! (when pointing out something obvious. D-oh!)
3. Huh?
4. Takdelah (continue to live in denial)
5. Hurm, nantila (punctuated by a lazy drawl; me – the ultra procrastinator)
6. OMG!
7. I dunno (this can be avoiding or I’m completely clueless when I say this)
7 people i tag:
1. Dr. Firqry
2. Hajar
3. Anwar (I hope you still do tags)
4. Lyla
5. Tyra
6. Pidah
7. Waa (now you’re done with exams, go do the tag!)

Apparently, friendship can be bought and sold at a 7-11 outlet...
Note: This is not a eulogy for any number of friendships that I have had…
This is something that I fish out from my dear old blog with a few alterations here and there. It’s a fitting tribute to my current standing as a friend to many now that I’ve read someone’s blog hitherto was made private. I’m not saying that I’m bringing my friendship back to the drawing board to be examined. Nor that I’m planning to dismiss it after my thorough evaluation. I’m trying to comprehend the complex nature of friendship that is…
Some time last year, I hit the bottommost point. I know that there is no use to commiserate with me on my irrevocably lost dream. Life, as we know it, has to go on even though the latest turn of events are not in favor of us. That I have to swallow my own medicine however bitter it is. And at this critical juncture, I need friends (apart from family that is) to fall on. A shoulder to cry on.
There’s no point of denying the fact that a friendship cultivated and matured in a matter of a year or two has as shaky a foundation as a house of cards built in a bowl of wobbly pudding. With a slight shake applied on the bowl simulating an earthquake, the house crumbles. And it shall not come as a surprise that such friendship, ‘born’ on the basis of “mutual understanding and interests” can fall to pieces as easily.
I don’t and won’t regret befriending them. We shared our crude jokes, juicy gossips, tear-inducing news, and anger together and even though this fragile friendship is now fractured, your presence leaves a permanent footprint in my heart. The fact that we now share almost zero common ground may cause the drift. Distance further estranges us as frequent interactions provide sustenance for friendship to continue. Yes, I confess that I feel awkward to initiate conversation with former schoolmates. We’re done with reminiscing the past and no matter how hard we try to sweeten it, to pepper it, the stories will only become tardier. This is because our very attempt to give life to them erodes their memorable qualities. In the end, we abandon our futile effort and inevitably, our friendship.
The abovementioned proposition may sound selfish. Some friendships do survive this acid test and carry on with the momentum of “mutual understanding and interests”. I still cherish this bond I share with some of my friends. Oddly enough, some of them were not even in my clique and worse I couldn’t stand them before! But they are there when I need their helping hand and soothing voice can be a phone call, an e-mail or an SMS away from me. I still make regular appearance in their prayers and well wishes are easily expressed. But do I do justice to them? Do I return the call when they most need me? Do I pray good luck for them? What makes me different from my ex-best friends (I’m ashamed to call them this)? I guess I just don’t know…
To reiterate the points above, I shall divulge these two real stories.
Story number 1: I admit that Shah is condescending. Dour. His words are laced with sarcasm, invisible to the oblivious but can easily be detected with simple analysis. But what makes him a friend indeed? This incident may seem trivial but it defined his friendship. He gave his bed for me to sleep in while he resorted to his study table to sleep during my impromptu visit to AAJ! Truth be told, I’m still ridden with guilt up to this day for putting him in such trouble. I don’t forgo my bed as easily for a friend but he has proven himself that he’s such a wonderful acquaintance even though we rarely saw eye-to-eye before.
Story number 2: This is about my selfish-self. Shahril and I were like peas in a pod before. We spent most of our time together and confided in many stories that permeated through the porous wall of our thoughts (this has a much deeper meaning). But class streaming brought a halt to this wonderful journey. He predicted that I would spend a great deal less time with him when we’re in different classes. I assured him that it wouldn’t happen. Eventually, the premonition was made a reality and we were very much like ordinary friends. This very fact hurt him but I, after finding a new clique, pretty much ignored him and moved on with my life. Even now, I deem his SMS trifling, our conversation forced, and our stories don’t seem linked anymore.
So, why bother to blame my ex-best friends if I also behave like them? A half of me finds it extremely hard to chuck out friendship even after a long period of time of no communication while the other half feels OK to let go of old friends once the “mutual understanding and interests” have evanesced into nothingness. Only circumstances can resolve this acute conflict, determining which half prevails over another.
I like Pidah’s idea about friendship. “Enjoy it while it lasts. Carry on with your life when it didn’t.” I’m hopelessly naive and this idea seems ideal given the circumstances. Up to 21 June 2008, I was basking in the full glory of my college friendships. Now the college life is over, I’m not too sure whether things will turn out good. Props to mom by saying that I’ll get over the people in the past soon. She experienced the void too after she left her school, her college, and her former workplaces. Almost certainly, the chasm was filled not long after she parted ways with her colleagues. However, it didn’t mean that she hadn’t kept tab on her friends. Only the time spent on evoking the past was greatly reduced. Me, I think the future is shrouded with uncertainty but I earnestly hope that these bonds are everlasting ones. I won’t expect much from them when THE time comes and they too shouldn’t expect too much from me then.
Quoting Jojo, “We’re just ordinary people.”

Bamboozled!
Listening to: Stand By You - Carrie Underwood
Mood: A bit surprised...
What if your friend is not what you think he or she is?
What if your friends are such sweet talkers in front of you but behind you, they'll spare nothing to vilify you?
Some camarederie might not be as honest as I would have loved. Keeping tab with reality, an honest friendship seems a bit too stretched to ask for. Then again, it exists. It only exists around me. I'm always at th periphery of the loop.
I've come to term that if a superficial friendship is the only thing that I can have, so be it. I'm not asking for too much.
In retrospect, I'm not too good a friend...
But I'll try my best not to desecrate my friendship without them knowing even though it's tempting...

Come out, come out!
Listening to: Breakin' Up - Rilo Kiley
Mood: Bored
Pidah's gonna make his blog public soon. I can't wait to read his takes on things past. I bet he has a convoluted mind too. Have people found out about my new blog?
Another unproductive day tarnished only by my initiation in cleaning up little kid a.k.a. my little bro. By that I mean I had to wash him after he poo-pooed, bathe him and brush his teeth. Daunting at first but now I'm gonna jump at every opportunity to do something new. That's why I've plucked the courage to put the driving school on speed dial. I hope the test is not slated for next week coz I'm now stiffer than a girder when it comes to manouvering an automobile.
Oh, I think my bro half faked his stomach upset this morning. Scheming he is.

The KYUEM Tag
1. What do you love most of kyuem?
D-oh!My friends of course. And the teachers as well. I'd give the world to turn back the clock to 11th July 2006...
2. What do you least love of kyuem?
The intermittent Internet connection especially the one in the chalet area. I still have not forgiven the IT people for laundering my RM25 to get Internet service on my laptop...
3. Favourite place in kyuem?
I know Fiqry will agree with me. The RC. The place to meet up with people. To get properly connected with the world (newspapers aplenty and the Internet connection is just superb). Ironically, it was a year ago that I last borrowed a book from the place. The cafe comes in second.
4. Favourite activity in kyuem?
Gossiping with likeminded fellas.
5. What you would most likely miss about this place?
The essence of the college life itself. Everything that's related to it. Friends, teachers, facilities, and even Pn. Rog!
6. What you would not miss at all about this place?
Ikan Keli.
7. This place teaches you...
To be independent. To be more assertive. To be a more wholesome person, not just a one-dimensional character on this stage called life...
8. Favourite teecher?
Every single one of them. Miss Yati for her acerbic but motivating stature, Mr. Highton for his goofiness, Mr. Hanson for his enthusiasm and wit, and Pn. Raha for her giddiness.
9. Favourite non-academic staff?
Puan Kas. She's been very helpful, accommodating, and resourceful.
10. Would you return to visit this college in the future?
Definitely! In a heartbeat. Well, depending on my results really...
11. If you don't come here, you would probably never in your entire life found...
People with the most unimaginable credentials and traits.
12. The one thing you can never seem to understand about this college is...
Why some people resort to being hypocritical to be accepted by the society.
13. If you could have it your way, the tagline for kyuem should be...
'Tis the place...
